"Pe aici, toata lumea stie cate ceva despre Manuil. Sunt oameni care l-au vazut mergand pe Dunare, de parca ar fi mers pe gheata. Unii spun ca avea puterea sa se ridice in vazduh, altii ca disparea deodata, ca sa apara apoi unde nu te astepti. Eu am copilarit cu el, am fost veri buni, si pot sa spun ca l-am cunoscut bine pe Manuil, cel nascut cu buza de iepure, din neamul unor cazaci de pe Volga". Mos Simion isi trece mana prin barba alba ca neaua, incruntandu-si sprancenele stufoase. A implinit deja 90 de ani, dar si-a pastrat mintea agera si stie, in amanunt, toate povestile satului. ...
